Andhra Pradesh arts and crafts exhibit the creative side of the people of that state. Arts and crafts in Andhra Pradesh are famous over the entire world.

Right from the very early ages, the craftsmen of this state have earned fame for their exceptional skills in craft making and the charisma of their hands has been transferred to the present generation.

This is a skill acquired from their forefathers. The skills have gradually been transferred down the ladder and with every new era, the styles as well as the designs got absorbed in the craft items and owing to this they produce contemporary items.

Yet, you can see the old works being displayed in one form or other. Andhra Pradesh arts and crafts highlight is the Banjara, which means nomads.

This community was the nomads of yesteryears and their crafts have influenced the methods and styles of various communities. The nomads are now leading a completely settled life and their crafts come in bold shapes and have a unique niche.

These women wear ivory bangles and have tattoos on their hand. They stitch magnificently with cloth studded using impressive mirror work, thereby making the clothes exuberant part of craft culture.

Arts and crafts in Andhra Pradesh have legends of paintings. It is believed that Lord Narayana painted a nymph so that he is not disturbed while meditating by the celestial dancers and this put the dancers to shame.

Earlier paintings focused mythology or religion and even that changed with time. But, now it is tough to find painted scrolls except for few in Warangal district.

Andhra Pradesh arts and crafts are popular with Kalamkari as well as Block printed fabrics. Kalamkari is a painting art done on fabrics using a pen.

Kalamkari also initiated with religious importance such as scenes of mythology and images of God. The colors and designs were wheedled out from plants such as rubia tinctorum and indigofera anil, but are now synthesized artificially.

Now the indigo and alizarine are widely used. The arts and crafts in Andhra Pradesh are given prominence and the areas where Kalamkari is done are Srikalahasti and Machilipatnam. Andhra Pradesh arts and crafts mainly focus the metal works. The bronze and brassware works done here are popular all over the world.

The gods and goddesses statues are made from bronze and the other crafts from brass. The uniqueness observed in the arts and crafts in Andhra Pradesh are exquisite handicrafts. The evidence of its richness gives an exclusive feeling. Tourists can purchase these exquisite memorabilia back home.

Apart from this, Hyderabad pearls are from the Nizams time and the exclusive pearls are found here only. You can find distinguished pearls in shape and luster.
