Andhra Pradesh dance, Kuchipudi has
recognition all over the world. This dance in Andhra Pradesh is a form
that gave platform to dance by a petite village, Kuchelapuram in the
Vijayawada district.
This dance is a combination of
gesticulations, dance, song and speech. A Kuchipudi dancer should be
versatile in acting, dancing, music, texts and various languages.
Though, this dance acquired
recognition in a small village, it developed as a culture and tradition
of Andhra Pradesh. This is now viewed as an independent dance
associated to Bharat Natyam.
Formerly, this dance was performed
only once a year and the form was cautiously kept at a distance far
away from Devadasis. The technique and skills of Kuchipudi dance
changed hands over generations and the present form is unique.

The gurus and celebrated performers were
Lakshmi Narayana Shastri and Chinta Krishna Murthi. They excelled in
roles such as Satyabhama in Bhamakalapam, etc. Andhra Pradesh dances
are many, but the typical classical dance is Kuchipudi alone that has
acquired fame.
The other dances in Andhra Pradesh are
mostly folk based songs. The Kuchipudi dance form is popular, but the
choreography experimentation is a constant process. The element called
devotional has been dispensed and Kuchipudi has become a spiritual
affair having a basic erotic flavor.

Some of the other folk dances are the
Veeraanatyam dedicated to Lord Siva. The Veeramusti Community claims to
perform this vigorous dance associated with instruments such as
Tambura, Dolu, Soolam, Tasha and Veeranam at East Godavari district.
The dances are an integral part of any
state. They bring out the ancient culture and tradition skillfully and
silently. However, modern the dances may be altered to; they yet
signify the culture of the ancient state.
Andhra Pradesh dances especially, the
folk dances express the lifestyle of the villagers and the simplicity
of this dance makes it evident that the culture is being followed since
ages.

typical folk dance which means basket toys. The other folk dances are
the Dappu, Chindu Bhagavatham, Tappetagullu, Bonalu and Dhimsa.
