Culture of any place is always unique
as it silently reflects the tradition and legacy of that place. Delhi
being the capital city, people come from various countries and settle
permanently here.
This is one of the reasons that the
culture of Delhi embodies various Indian states culture. To be precise,
the Delhi culture is a kind of reflection and synthesis of all the
Indian cultures.
New Delhi now is the centre of
politics, where all decisions are framed and the policies are passed.
However, this city has a history on its own which made impact on the
cultural scenario.
Delhi is a combination of all modern
lifestyles and old traditions as well as values.

Yet, even today you can see few past
reminiscences in Delhi to certain extent and uphold the past values.
While, simultaneously you can see the culture in Delhi that has lead
various people to become salves of ostentations.
This is apparent from the Qawwalis of
Nizamuddin shrine, Aartis of Chattarpur Mandir and Gurbanis of Bangla
sahib that reflect the old values and subsequently you can hear the
blaring music of discotheques and pubs of the present trend.

The Delhi culture displays the blend
of past and present and also the aesthetic value of the old
legacy.Another significant aspect of Delhi culture is displayed in the
fairs and festivals of this city.
The Chhat Puja is celebrated with the
same fervor as Durga Puja.Though, both these festivals are from two
different states such as Bihar and Bengal, the celebrations do not vary
in any account.
Similarly, the Muslim festival
Eid-ul-Fitr as well as Lohri, the Punjabi festival is celebrated with
great enthusiasm.
It is very interesting to observe the
culture of Delhi showing influence of Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab and
Uttar Pradesh as these states border Delhi, the capital city.

The various monuments such as Jama Masjid,
Qutub Minar, etc enhance the culture of the capital city. The diversity
makes Delhi colorful and lively. The Jama Masjid reflects the
Indo-Persian art and the Birla Temple or the Chattarpur Temple is the
amalgamations of south and north Indian architecture. The lotus temple
represents the splendid architecture.
The culture of Delhi has not deprived the
Jains or Buddhists as they also have their shrines. The cuisine here
also is a blend of varieties. The Delhi people are very hospitable and
cheerful and are multi cultural as well as multi linguistic. The Delhi
culture is a place that has numerous religions under one roof and
houses everyone with harmony.
