The women residing in the rural areas of Goa prefer dancing Dhalo. The women and young girls form semi circle and sway in synchronized movements to rural musical beats, instruments and music.

Dhalo is a dance full of life, fun and frolic. Fugdi is also a traditional dance that is popular amidst womenfolk. This is performed during the Hindu Lord Ganesha festival.

This dance can be performed under any occasion and performing this does not call for any event. The common and preferred dance is Fugdi as it does not involve any particular step and required swirling continuously until you really get exhausted.

Dekhni is basically a traditional dance of Christians who have got converted to Christianity during the Portugal reign from Hinduism. These people have composed this traditional dance of Goa.

This dance involves singing also. It usually initiates with a lady starting to dance and is later joined by various other dancers.

Goa dances cannot be imagined with melody or rhythm and Dekhni proves it right as the music of this dance is an apposite combination of melody and rhythm. The melody includes western and Indian genre.

The dances of Goa include the traditional dance, Shigmo that is performed during spring season. The farmers consider this dance symbolic of renewal of natural resources.

This dance is performed for the victorious soldiers on their successful accomplishment of their mission.The Goa dances are one of the earliest dances that include folk dances as well. One of the folk dances of Goa is the Kunbi dance.

This was performed by the early settlers of Goa. This dance exhibits more social elements than religious feeling. This is performed by women who have the talent to perform it elegantly at a fast pace. This dance looks colorful owing to their traditional attire.

Another significant dance is the Lamp dance. The lamps are balanced on the head and this dance requires a lot of self control as well as discipline to balance the lamps.
