Haryana is always known as the
Greenery land for its lush gardens, beautiful scenery, clear lakes and
serene atmosphere.
The Haryana wildlife is well preserved
in the Sultanpur National park and Bird sanctuary that is situated in
the Gurgaon district which is at a distance of 50 km from Delhi and
only 15 km from Gurgaon.
This park is ideal for bird watchers
as well as for birding and tourists can enjoy if they plan to visit in
winters when large numbers of migratory birds visit this park.
As the water accumulates in rains and
gets dried in summer, various organisms such as fish, insects and
crustaceans thrive on them during floods and attract other numerous
birds.
The wildlife in Haryana is popular
among the tourists and is one of the greatest attractions.

The Haryana wildlife is potential and is
well known as a bird preserve. Keeping the potential in view, a 359
acres area was considered as a Bird sanctuary and later was upgraded as
National park by the Haryana Government.
The wildlife in Haryana has undergone
various developments of works such as construction of mounds, widening
of paths and tube wells have been dug.
There are trees with birds such as Acacia
Tortilis, Acacia Nilotica, Neem and Beris and for bird lover’s benefit
certain facilities are provided such as education as well as
interpretation centre, library and films, binoculars and slides.

The wildlife in Haryana facilitates
the bird watchers with watch towers sited at different points. Apart
from this, parking and toilet facilities are made.
Drinking water is also available in
the park. Tourists and bird watchers can stay over night at the resort
that is at the entrance and provides food as well as lodging.
The interpretation center has more
than 70 color photographs of varied bird species and is accompanied
with write ups such that bird lovers may find it interesting and
informative.
The Haryana wildlife has allotted a
room in dedication to Dr. Salim Ali, the famous ornithologist for his
collection of photographs and his personal effects.
Haryana wildlife has over 450 species
of birds and 250 are in the Sultanpur Bird sanctuary.

Few of these birds are resident, while
others are from distant regions such as Europe, Siberia an Afghanistan.
The wildlife in Haryana included resident birds such as Purple Sunbird,
Common Hoopoe, Gray Francolin, White-throated Kingfisher, Black headed
Ibis, Cattle Egret, Red vented Bulbul, Eurasian collared Dove, and many
more. a leisure walk can take two hour to see the whole park.
