Madhya Pradesh history initiates from
November 1, 1956. This was the central region in India, and hence the
name Madhya Pradesh.
This was undivided till 2000. Madhya
Pradesh came into existence as new in the year 2000 November, after the
divergence of creating the new state, Chhattisgarh.
Owing to its central location, Madhya
Pradesh has persistently been the melting point of various historical
currents from South, North, West and East.
Madhya Pradesh covers the old parts of
the subcontinent.
The history of Madhya Pradesh reveals
that the contribution of the ancient traditions and culture is apparent
in the architecture and caves.

Madhya Pradesh history is evident in the
pre-historic caves at Bhimbetka, adjacent to Bhopal. The paintings are
fascinating and dates back to the Paleolithic times. Experts have
arrived to a conclusion that these are very old, perhaps the
reminiscences of the earliest dwellings.
Excavations revealed cultural succession
from the late Stone Age to early historical period. Numerous small
kingdoms traced their origins from the lands granted by the Delhi
emperor for serving him well.

History of Madhya Pradesh relates to
old legacies and these reveal that this is the opulent state in the
country with regards to painted rock shelters.
These shelters are found in Bhopal,
Sagar, Sehore, Hoshangabad and Raisen districts.
The history of Madhya Pradesh relates
with the rising period of Guptas and subsequently that later formed a
part of Harshvardhan’s empire.
The fall in the imperial power broke
the petite principalities to establish their power over one another.
One such dynasty was the Chandels that
claimed descent from the moon and later carved a prosperous kingdom
after the fall of the great empire.

For a short period of time an inspired
construction activities could be seen in the 10th and 11th centuries
and these are the people who left behind the matchless temples cluster
at Khajuraho.
Madhya Pradesh history continued from
Chandels to Pratihara and Gaharwar Rajput dynasties, who survived and
died with tough codes of chivalry and wasted scare resources in feudal
life style and failed to keep the Muslim power at a distance.
Madhya Pradesh history is significant as
this state has changed many hands. The Moghul succeeded in suppressing
everything and his grandson Aurangazeb plunged this region.
Various others came into existence due to
family branching, but the generosity of the Marathas was indomitable
after the fall of Moghuls. The history of Madhya Pradesh is interesting
and it is appreciable to see the city in a new modern shape in a
dignified position.
