The ancient monuments of Khajuraho have a fascinating story and few of them match the secrecy of the temples. The Madhya Pradesh festivals bring out a seven day extravaganza during the Khajuraho festival and are a unique treat.

As it has the international status, the festivals in Madhya Pradesh bestow a grand treat for the connoisseurs from all over the universe.

The Madhya Pradesh festivals include the Tansen Music festival at Gwalior as it beholds a special position in the Indian music.

Tansen is the pillar of Hindustani classical music and is one among the nine jewels of the Akbar’s court that is now lying buried in Gwalior.

Even today, the Tansen Tomb is a cultural heritage and is the venue for the Indian classical festival conducted in November and December.

Similarly, the festivals in Madhya Pradesh such as the Shivaratri Mela are celebrated with pomp. Lakhs of devotees flock to the Mahadeo temple in great devotion.

The Navratri festival is beautifully celebrated in Ujjain and its adjacent temples.

The Kumbh Mela is conducted once in 12 years and millions flock to Ujjain to take an immersion in the Holy Shirpa River. Madhya Pradesh festivals are many and some of them are the Chethiyagiri Vihara festival.

This is a Buddhist festival and is attended by numerous Buddhist monks and pilgrims. This is held at Sanchi. Festivals in Madhya Pradesh are celebrated colorfully.

The Bhagoria haat is a festival of Bhils and Bhilalas celebrated before the Holi festival. During this festival most of the alliances are settled. Some alliances may not be acceptable, but many times work out perfectly with little persuasions.

Earlier this festival was held to settle old disputes. However, the Bhils and Bhilalas view this festival with great zeal as there is a series of fairs held and the entire festival is thrilling and enjoyable.
