and the Banganga festival are some of the festivals of Maharashtra
celebrated and among them the Elephanta festival is organized by the

The classical music as well as dance is some

Poornima, Nag Panchami, Shivaji Jayanti, Ganga Dashahara, Wat Pournima
and Palkhi festival are some of the festivals celebrated with great
enthusiasm.

entire Maharashtra, but the other festivals of Maharashtra are also
celebrated with equated zeal and fervor.
Shivaji Jayanti is celebrated on his
birthday on February 19th. Shivaji is respected always and is in the
minds of every Maharashtrian.
Maharashtrian festivals include
Bhaubeej that relates the bond of brother and sister. This is
celebrated after Deewali.
This is a festival with religious
significance considering brothers as the protectors of sisters as per
the Hindu religion. Deewali is also celebrated with high spirits.
They break fire crackers and without
any barriers distribute sweets to each others.

are worn. The Maharashtrians are very soft people and their preparation
of sweets is also very tasty and nutritious. Holi is another great
festival celebrated by the Maharashtrians.
They sprinkle colors and have a great time.
Similarly, the Makarasankranti festival in January is celebrated with
sincerity and devotion and is one of the Maharashtrian festivals.
Narali Pournima marks the monsoon end in
Maharashtra and is celebrated with enthusiasm. People celebrate this
festival by offering coconut to the sea on the full moon day. The
festivals of Maharashtra are many and all the festivals are associated
with dance and music.
They do not have hard rules to celebrated
festivals that involve spending lots of money and each festival in
Maharashtra is done in the simplest way possible.
