The wildlife of any tourist destination has a predominant role to play in the development of the destination.

The Similipal Tiger Reserve is one of the most frequently visited sanctuaries in Orissa.

There are several tourists who come to this sanctuary. This sanctuary has unlimited natural beauty such as extended grasslands, meadows, enormously high peaks, clear waterfalls, roaring tigers, meandering rivers, fleeing deer and many more.

This Orissa wildlife sanctuary is spread over an area of 2750 kilometers. There are more than 95 tigers living in this sanctuary. Apart from tigers, even leopards, crocodiles, elephants, reptiles reside in this wildlife sanctuary in Orissa along with over 231 bird species. This sanctuary is visited by several tourists every single year.

The wildlife sanctuary in Orissa is given importance in the aim of preserving the wildlife for the future generations.

The Nandankanan zoo is at a short distance and the rippling waters of the Kanjia Lake is attractive.

The white tiger population is famous in this zoo. A botanical garden is also a part of this sanctuary.

The visitors get a great opportunity to see such regal animals in their natural habitat.

The Orissa wildlife sanctuary has more than 67 mammals, 81 species of birds and 18 varieties of reptiles.

This zoo has an excellent reputation for breeding gharial crocodiles, black panthers and white tigers.The Orissa wildlife sanctuary has the endangered species such as the Indian crocodiles, Asiatic lion, Nilgiri langur, mouse, Indian Pangolin, Shanghai lion tailed macaque, deer and numerous birds, fish and reptiles at Nanadankannan. The other attractions are fresh water fishes.

The reptile park entrance is guarded by dinosaur, lizard turtles and snakes. The wildlife sanctuary in Orissa has boating and toy train facilities. Bhitarkanika sanctuary is a sanctuary to protect the estuarine crocodiles. Moreover, it is a natural habitat for crocodiles, wild pigs, rhesus monkey, pythons, king cobra, sambars, etc. The white crocodile is the pride possession and also the pride of Orissa wildlife.
