Amritsar means a nectar pool. This is the second largest town founded by Ram Dass, one of the gurus of the Sikhs. Amritsar acquired its name from the sacred pool that is around the golden temple.

This temple is visited form people all over the universe to pay reverence to the guru as well as to take a dip. This city dates back to 15th century, but there are evidences that this city is a sacred heritage as it exists from the Ramayana period.Ludhiana city is on the Grand Trunk road. Ludhiana is the most populated Punjab cities and is rapidly growing as a metropolitan city.

This city experienced the first Sikh wars. It is an industrial town and has woolen garment machine tools, cycle parts, dyes, sewing machines, mopeds and motor parts produced and exported.

The cities in Punjab have seen the ancient wars and have recently developed into a city.

Bhatinda is one of the popular cities in Punjab. It is fast developing and some recent developments such as fertilizer factories, thermal power plant and the immense oil refinery are apparent.

Bhatinda is popular for its fort and is an old town of this state. It has many associations of historical points.

Bhatinda had a significant role in the freedom struggle and also against the despotic administration of the princely rulers.

The Punjab cities are big in food grain as well as cotton market. Bhatinda is a railway junction and has become one of the large grape growing areas.

Among Indian cities, Jalandar is the first producer of sports goods. The Jalandar city is a major road and rail junction and an army cantonment. The other things that are famous are the iron and steel re-rolling mills, electric and rubber goods, automobile parts, handloom products and sewing machine factories.

The Punjab cities are all famous in various things. The cities in Punjab include Patiala which is a city of rich tradition and royal heritage. Patiala has acquired eminence in social, political, religious, fine arts, music, academic, cultural and military spheres. Some other important cities are Phagwara, Kapurthala, Moga, Goraya, Pathankot, Sangrur, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Khanna, and more.
