Historical places are the significant
places representing the past history of that place and the glorious
days highlights the immense past and its opulence.
The historical places in Punjab
include the Govindgarh fort in Amritsar. This fort is of the early 19th
century and is designed by Maharaja Ranjit singh.
He has a special mechanism for defense
against artillery attacks that were frequent when Punjab was open to
the Afghan hordes.
As it is occupied with paramilitary
forces now the visitors are not allowed. The Punjab historical places
are many in number and each place has its own significant history.
Bathinda Fort is one of the historical
places in Punjab. This fort is schooner shaped and stands similar to a
ship in a sea of sand.

This fort is considered to be important for its repute that it is 1800
years old. Later in was captured by the Patiala Maharaj Ala singh. Here
a small gurudwara is memorialized in the name of Sri Guru Gobind Singh.

been ruled by many rulers and all of them have left something or the

viewed by the tourists with great interest.

Faridkot Fort is another attractive
historical place in Punjab. It is at a distance of 30 km from Ferozpur.
It has a reputation over 700 years and
it notable for the wall paintings and mainly because of the mirror hall
called Sheesh Mahal.
This hall of mirrors was the prayer
rooms of the family that was ruling and this style was copied from
Rajasthan.
The Punjab historical places also
include the Qila Mubarak of Patiala.
This was founded by Maharaja Ala Singh
in 1764 and was a mud fort originally that later emerged as a double
storied structure with massive gate and beautiful arches. The fort is
now a museum.

The Punjab historical places have many more
forts such as the Bhadurgarh Fort in Patiala. This fort is compact and
is nicely designed. Anandpur Sahib Fort is important but became victims
of war and time. The Phillaur Fort in Ludhiana is now a police training
center.

This is 7 kms from Pathankot and is at the Himalayas foot overlooking
the river Ravi. Today, the same fort has been altered to be a
comfortable rest house.
