Punjab Monuments

Monuments in any state represents that particular state has seen a glorious past. The monuments are evidences of a significant history with various rulers.

Each ruling dynasty leaves behind something and this turns to be a monument. However, all the ancient things are remarkably unique and this makes every monument very special.

The Punjab monuments such as the Divan khana are ancient and are used for important public occasions where large audiences are expected.

Today, the same divan khan is altered into a museum that displays dazzling chandeliers, armors, swords and daggers.

The monuments in Punjab are very precious as they have been preserved for ages.

The divan khana is built on a network of tunnels and the façade looks like a double storey building with balcony and windows. There is a raised platform and it is well decorated with Plaster of Paris tiles.

These tiles are painted in the Arabic style and the ceiling is traditionally hung with fabled assortment of chandeliers making it one of the beautiful monuments in Punjab. Sheesh Mahal is in Patiala behind the Moti Bagh palace.

This Mahal was constructed amidst terraces, fountains, gardens and artificial lake. The Sheesh Mahal walls are painted with images relating to legends and mythology.

The entire section is covered with designed glass and mirror work. The museum consists of Tibetan art with sculpture of various metals.

The Punjab monuments display a unique feature in every monument and hence no two monuments look identical.

The Punjab monuments include the Summer palace of Amritsar. This palace was originally laid in a garden with rare plants, flowers and trees.

The beautiful clusters today are transformed into libraries and clubs and the lawns encircling them are altered as tennis courts.

The monuments in Punjab are considered with high regard as all these monuments bring out the unique designs like the entrance of this palace.

The paintings as well as the mirror work are extant. The Qila Mubarak is in Patiala. Qila represents a fort and the inner fort was known as Qila Androon. The other living apartments have typical names such as Moti palace (pearl), Sheesh(mirror) palace, the palace of moon, palace of colors, Rajmata(queens mother) palace and Jail walla palace for prisoners.

The monuments in Punjab give a true insight of the past constructions and how thoughtful they were. The Punjab monuments give a clear idea of their talents in constructing and painting the decorations. The most astonishing of all the places is the underground sewerage system and the coal room connection to a tunnel that carries cool air right from the basement.
