Punjab Temples

Ram Tirth temple is in Amritsar and is one of the prominent temples in Punjab as it dates back to many centuries and relates to the Ramayana period.

This place has ancient tank and several temples. A hut stands as an evidence of goddess Sita giving birth to her children, Luv and Kush.

Even today the Punjab temples have great relevance in respect to the past.

The style and the architecture of the temples attract the tourists such that a constant increase in the incoming of tourists is visible.

There are numerous temples and each one is unique on its own. However, most temples reflect the glorious past and the rich history.

Durgiana Mandir in Amritsar was built in the 20th century. The golden temple is one of the most important temples in Punjab. It arises amidst a tank and has a central dome and canopies in the temple. The foundation was laid by great reformers as well as political leaders.

It is a renowned temple and hence many people from far and wide come to visit this temple. The Punjab temples include the Bhagwathi Mandir. The history dates to the 17th century and the village where you can find devotees in the Jawala Mukhi temple were known as Khanna.

The Punjab temples include the Shiv Mandir in Jalandhar. This temple dates back to the Lodhi era.

The story goes like a Nawab of Sultanpur Lodhi fell head over heels over a newly married girl and he wanted to make that Hindu girl a victim of his lust.

Fortunately, she was a strong devotee of Lord Shiva and that serpent saved her honor. Overwhelmed by the appearance of the serpent, he begged pardon and got a temple built.

This temple has a unique architecture and the main gate is in a mosque style and the entire building is in the Hindu style.

This makes the temple in Punjab a great attraction as the temple is a blend of two religions.

The temples in Punjab include few other temples such as the Sodal Mandir at Jalandhar, Panch Mandir at Kapurthala town and Kali Devi temple at Patiala. The dome is surrounded by smaller temples and is dedicated to several deities.

The Kali Devi temple is at Patiala and was constructed by the rulers of this state. The wall paintings were beautiful and the icons declared a national monument. The Punjab temples are loved by all the tourists as all the temples have some uniqueness.
