always been an integral branch of the Rajasthan culture since decades.
The royal families always entertained
these performers in their courts and the dances of Rajasthan had great
prominence.
They skillfully recited tales of
valor and passion. The Rajasthan dances were performed for births,
festive occasions, marriages and various other events.
There are few professional
communities known for typical performances especially in Rajasthan.
Their dances are know for rhythm and they perform and in a simple as
well as uncomplicated manner.
The Bhats, Nats, Dholis and Bhands
sing and dance during the family celebrations and this was customary.

The popular Rajasthan dances include
various styles. The Bhavai is a dance that watching this rare feat to
the rhythm of music makes the viewers miss heart beat. It is similar to
acrobatics and the veiled women dance deftly balancing pitchers on
their heads.
The way they sway their feet keeps the
audience awe struck. Recently, the performers’ papier-mâché the pots
that are stuck together, but even today the nimbleness is a feat of
wonder. The dances of Rajasthan also include the Drum dance.

chivalry. The musicians with drums and cymbals create a music that
everyone is left astonishing.
The dances o Rajasthan is many and
one such fiery dance is the fire dance. This can be considered a devout
performance from the devotees as they dance on a bed of burning coals
with more energy and by the time they end they literally end with
blisters on their feet.
They look immune to the heat of the
fire and keep the viewers wondering if the scorching Thar has made them
resistant. All the Rajasthan dances are unique from one another.
Chari is a type of dance with brass
pots and burning cottonseeds burning on their heads is really amazing
to watch the performers moving effortlessly of the potential danger of
getting burnt.

Rajasthan dances include the Gair dance
performed during Holi. This is a clockwise and anti-clockwise movement,
quite identical to Garba of Gujarat. Ghoomar is also a scenic and
colorful dance as the women flare in embroidered skirts twirl in
circles. This is a ritual of marriages. The Kathpuli is puppeteering in
which the puppets enact tales of romance and valor.
The dances in Rajasthan include the Sapera
dance in which they wriggle their bodies like snakes and dance
fervently with quick pace. Kachhi Ghodi is an energetic dance showing
swords, mock fights amidst melodious music.
Terah Taali is a customary dance with
thirteen cymbals tied to body and they strike one of these and at the
same time do hand performance. Many times women balance pots also on
their heads and a sword is held in their mouth giving a theatrical
effect.
