Rajasthan History

The Rajasthan history is splendid as well as mystifying and this state has an opulent historical legacy and is the kingdom of various rulers.

The history and origin of Rajasthan dates back to 1200 AD and the historians claim Rajasthan to be inhabited near 2500BC. The history of Rajasthan began with the Rajputs controlling various parts.

Before the Rajputs, Rajasthan was ruled by several republics and was a branch of the Mauryan Empire. The other republics that dominated Rajasthan are the Arjunyas, Malavas, Kushans, Yaudhyas, Satraps, Saka, Hunas and Guptas.

The Rajput supremacy was between the 8th and 12th century AD in the Indian history and the Pratihars ruled this state and observed supremacy over Parmars, Chalukyas and Chauhans.

After 1200AD, India was under the power of Muslim rulers and their centers of powers were Ajmer and Nagaur. Ranthambhor was also ruled. The Rajasthan history during the modern period was never united.

The entrance of Emperor Akbar created a unity in the province of Rajasthan. But after 1707, the Mughals declined and there was a political breakdown causing separation of Mughal Empire.

The history of Rajasthan took a turn and reached the hands of Marathas who conquered Rajasthan on the decline of the Mughal Empire and in 1755 Ajmer was occupied. The initiation of 19th century marked the invasion of Pindaris.

Later, in 1817, the British concluded treaties with all the Rajputana states and began ruling Rajasthan. The post independence period Rajasthan comprised of 19 princely states.

The Rajasthan state was a conglomeration of individual political entities. The administrative systems were different in each place and the present Rajasthan state was instituted in 1948 after a lengthy integration process.

This was the history of Rajasthan and now the present Rajasthan history is that there are 32 districts, 105 sub-divisions, 222 towns in the state, 241 tehsils and 37889 villages have been inhabited.

The history of Rajasthan will always be glorious and this is the vibrant state in India that should be visited by everyone.
