The varied topography ranging from the semi-arid desert conditions to the mountains and lush green forests, Rajasthan is a home to diverse range of animals and birdlife such as leopards, tigers, rhesus monkeys, deers, pythons and water birds.

These water birds come in winters to Rajasthan and the Rajasthan wildlife sanctuaries as well as National parks are very popular all over the world and hence the numbers of tourists keep increasing every year.

The wildlife in Rajasthan is given proper care and importance in the aim of preserving this national treasure for the future generations.

Ranthambhor National park is one of the famous Rajasthan wildlife reserve for tigers. This reserve is surrounded by the Aravallis and Vindhyas and has numerous artificial lakes.

This is home to several pavilions, palaces and forts. This has the tigers, sambhars, leopards, sloth bears, cheetals, chinkaras, neelgais, hyenas, caracals, ratels, oxes, jackals, langurs, Indian gazelles and wild boats are found here. More than 300 birds are found in the park.

The wildlife in Rajasthan has been conserved in the Jaisalmer, Desert National park and sanctuary. The notable achievement of this park is to protect the Great Indian Bustard being an endangered species.

Animals and insects such as desert monitors, these resemble the miniature of dragons, the sandfish that swims under the sand, snakes and chameleons, deadly viper are found here.

Desert hares, Indian wolfs, desert gerbils, hedgehogs also are a part of this wildlife. The wild life in Rajasthan is prominent because of the tiger reserve, the Sariska National park.

This serves as the hunting ground. The Sariska forest comprises of low hills, wide valleys, steep escarpments, hill plateaus making it a habitat for endangers tiger species.

As this is one of the significant milk pockets, the cattle have literally eroded the region and a total environmental balance of this region can be seen that is also disturbed by the human interferences.

This poses a major thread to wildlife. The Rajasthan wildlife can spot tigers, leopards, sambhars, cheetals, wild dogs, blue bulls, four horned antelopes, chinkaras and ratels hers.

The Keoladeo Ghana National Park is a winter retreat that includes Siberian cranes. The wildlife in Rajasthan is a favorite haunt for birds as it has fresh water marsh and this it the main catch for the migratory birds.

The Rajasthan wildlife is interesting as the array of birds such as spoonbills, geese, duck, herons, egrets, cranes ibises, pelicans, paradise flycatchers, parakeets, flamingos, darters, cormorants, kingfishers, shrikes, eagles, blue jays, orioles truly makes it a paradise for bird watchers as well as lovers.
