India constitutes of 28 states and 7 union territories. These states are earlier divided into Parts A, B, and C states, however after introduction of the States Reorganization Act of 1956 this was amended and all the states became of a single type of state.
It was in the year 2000, November when India added 3 new states – Chattisgarh which was established out of Madhya Pradesh, Uttaranchal came from Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand was carved out of Bihar.
Some of the States included alphabetically order Andaman & Nicobar , Andhra Pradesh , Arunachal Pradesh , Assam , Bihar , Chandigarh , the most recent one to be listed from Bihar Chhattisgarh , Dadra & Nagar Haveli , Lakshadweep , Madhya Pradesh.
Maharashtra is one of the biggest states and includes cities like Pune, Surat and so on and so forth. |
Manipur , Meghalaya , Mizoram ,Nagaland ,Orissa , Daman & Diu ,Delhi ,Goa which is one of the smallest states ,Gujarat .

Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, another newly added state Jharkhand are also a part of states in India.
Karnataka, Kerala, Pondicherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim are further more down the list.
Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, and West Bengal complete the entire list of the 28 states that make a part of India.
Every state in India boasts of some specialty and is well known for the same.
For instance, West Bengal is famous for its sweets, whereas Goa is known for its beaches. Assam is known for its tea and so on and so forth. |
