Uttar Pradesh festivals include the Ram Lila, the story of Lord Rama started by Saint Tulsidas. Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh celebrates Ram Lila with great sincerity.

In few places, Ram Lila is coupled with Vijayadashmi and also with Rama Navami, the birthday of God Rama. Festivals in Uttar Pradesh is the time when you can see the entire state rejoicing.

Ram Lila is an enactment of a myth and this performance evokes festive aura and enables the performance of religious rites. The performance is rich in crafts such as jewelry, masks, make-up, decoration and costume.

Ayodhya is famous for Mandali Ram Lila and the performance is presented on a platform stage and is totally dialogue based. This performance is completed with songs and Kathak dances and the décor is truly eye catching.

The Ram Navmi Mela is celebrated in the holy city, Ayodhya and thousands of devotees and worshippers gather to worship the Lord at Kanak Bhawan.

The Sravan Jhula Mela is celebrated in a unique manner by placing the deities in the swings of the temples and also from the tree branches and are brought to the temple back.

Uttar Pradesh festivals are done as per the old traditions and rituals, and the people of this state do not compromise anything.

They prefer doing all the festivals in Uttar Pradesh in the typical and traditional style that is being followed since many decades. The Braj Bhoomi celebrates colorful festivals the entire year and one of the significant Uttar Pradesh festivals is the Holi.

Holi is a festival of colors that heralds the onset of spring and several folk and classical artistes render enthralling performances as this is seen as an exuberant fashion.

The festivals in Uttar Pradesh that are celebrated with grandeur are the Janmashtami, during which Raaslila is enacted and lots of devotional songs are sung.

Mathura stirs the devotion and celebrations mood in the whole of the state. Haridwar celebrates the Maha Kumbh Mela since the creation of the Universe and devotees converge here to commemorate this divine event.
