Uttar Pradesh has been a very active state politically, and this state has perceived the advent as well as plummet of various empires in its history.

The beauty of Taj Mahal, how much ever it is explained, the words fall short. The caliber of putting in words may seem to be inadequate than seeing it by eyes. Taj is a place one has to delve into and experience it. Similarly, Agra has much on its platter.

Enjoying the sublime aesthetics inside the Agra fort or enjoying the works done in buildings such as Dewan-e-Khas and Dewan-e-Aam are fabulous.

The Buland Darwaza is the highest gateway in Asia and the Panch Mahal standing with great pride give immense pleasure and the tomb of Akbar at Sikandara is also one of the major attractions around Agra.

The erstwhile Oudh, and the now capital Lucknow has many Uttar Pradesh monuments that are worth appreciating. The popular monument among them is Bada Imambada.

This shrine is very important for the Shiite Muslims and the glassware as well as the chandeliers decorates the sanctum making this place magnificent.

Some of the monuments in Uttar Pradesh are the Shah Najaf Imambara and Chota Imambada. These buildings were built for the Oudh subjects suffering from famine. The old Hussainabad in Lucknow has a magnificent Rumi Darwaza guarding the entrance of this place and is notable as a monument.

There are many famous monuments of Uttar Pradesh apart from the major historical monuments. The Residency of Lucknow is worth considering a monument as it used to be the office cum residence of the resident General of Oudh.

Some of the other Uttar Pradesh monuments includes tomb of Itam ud Daulla which is also called as Mini Taj. The Daulla tomb became the inspiration source to build the Taj Mahal.

The Kalinjari fort was built in the 7th century and while on a tour to UP, visitors should remember these names and make it a point to visit as the design and architecture is really amazing.
